Although hard to believe, it has been three years since Jonghyun of SHINee passed. The singer left us on December 18th, 2017, at age 27. Rather than being distraught that he is gone, we should be happy that he lived. Here, we will look back at Jonghyun’s songs and amazing memories he left behind.

Jonghyun was SHINee’s main vocalist. While listening to SHINee’s songs, it is impossible to not be impressed by Jonghyun’s outstanding voice.

Although he was not the leader nor the oldest of SHINee, he was the one that would lift the other members’ moods.

Jonghyun was not only a great singer and entertainer, but he was also a gifted lyricist. Upon revisiting Jonghyun’s lyrics after his passing, some fans noticed that certain songs spoke of the depression he was revealed to have suffered from.

One song that he wrote was A Gloomy Clock for IU, which was originally intended for his use.

He also wrote Breathe for Lee Hi, which zoomed to first place on every major Korean digital music chart when it was released in March 2016. After his death in 2017, the song charted again.

Jonghyun was a radio DJ for three years as well. He hosted his own radio show called Blue Night. Many fans listened to the show in order to wind down because it aired from 10 pm to midnight. His closing quote was the same every time: “come again and rest tomorrow”. However, the last episode on April 2nd, 2017, ended with an even more heartfelt message: “I, too, will rest and come back. Everyone, as usual, and peacefully, please come and rest tomorrow too. I love you all.”
